On behalf of the International Society for Medical Laser Applications (ISLA) I would like to invite you to our upcoming seminar on the latest developments in Low-Level-Laser Therapy.

Newly developed and CE, FDA and Health-Canada approved devices from Germany deliver highly focused light from multiple lasers of different wavelengths.

Those lasers can be applied externally for pain management or acupuncture treatments, interstitially/ intra-articularly (i.e. in combination with other injection therapies), intravenously (systemically) by a special patented catheter technology or with certain adapters, e.g. for transcranial treatments.

The use of different wavelengths (red, infrared, green, blue and yellow lasers) enables us to achieve different penetration depths and leads to reparative effects of wide variety in tissue.

Externally, these multi-channel lasers are mainly used for pain treatment, muscle spasms, joint osteoarthritis and spine syndromes or transcranially for neurological pathologies. As an example for clinical evidence, a high quality study about successful treatment of acute and chronic neck pain was recently published in “The Lancet”. The “Stroke” recently published big multi-center studies from the USA, revealing the enormous potential of transcranial near-infrared laser light to palliate the effects of strokes.

The latest and most promising technique is a special catheter technology. It facilitates “interstitial” and “intra-articular” application of lasers by inserting a fiberoptical needle into the tissue near the spot or area of injury. Numerous studies on patients with chronic and resistant pain of e.g. spinal stenosis and knee or shoulder arthritis showed excellent results in pain relief and a huge superiority in comparison to other methods. The effects of interstitial and intra-articular laser therapies can be further improved by combination with injection therapies such as platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) or stem cells.

During the seminar you will also have the opportunity to learn more about intravenous laser therapy with multiple wavelengths (red, infrared, green, blue and yellow) and complementary therapeutic options that aim to strengthen the immune system and general physical fitness. Furthermore, we will discuss the treatment of conditions such as diabetes, chronic liver diseases, metabolism disorders, fibromyalgia, depression, CFS, cardiac diseases and other disorders.

Another key topic of the seminar is the innovative approach of photodynamic tumor therapy by intravenous, topical or interstitial stimulation of photosensitizers. Photodynamic therapy has been shown successful in the treatment of different cancers. It is easy to perform and – in contrast to chemotherapy – without severe side-effects. The principle is the stimulation of a light-sensitive drug which is injected into the blood. Through endocytosis the so-called photosensitizer binds with high specificity to tumour cells anywhere in the body. The process takes several hours until tumour cells have become light sensitive. Tumor tissue can then be destroyed by irradiation with light of appropriate wavelength according to the absorption spectra of the various photosensitizers.

We are happy to announce that there will be additional presentations from Dr. Peter Dorsher (Mayo Clinic Jacksonville) and Dr. Albert Ray (Pain Center Miami) focusing on pain management and regenerative medicine.

During the presentations, we will conduct practical exercises that provide you with hands-on experience on the practical usage of the innovative technology.
